Your Guide to Emergency Preparedness and Response
Dear JEAY Family!❤️
Happy Monday! As we start a new week, let’s take a moment to think about something really important: BEING READY FOR EMERGENCIES.
Emergencies can happen when we least expect, catching us off guard. Whether it's a medical crisis, a natural disaster, or a sudden illness, knowing how to respond quickly can save a life. By preparing ahead, you can reduce stress, protect yourself/your loved ones, and make sure you're ready for anything that comes your way.
EASY STEPS TO GET READY FOR AN EMERGENCY:
1. Make a Plan: Create a simple plan that outlines what to do in different types of emergencies. Include contact numbers for emergency services, family members, and your healthcare provider. This can be easily done on your mobile phone.
2. Get/Build an Emergency Kit: Keep basic supplies like water, non-perishable food, medications, first-aid items, and important documents in a spot that is easy to reach.
3. Know Your Medical Info: Keep a list of your reports, medications and any medical conditions within reach. Make sure you have enough supplies to last a few days in case of an emergency.
4. Learn First Aid: Knowing how to perform CPR and basic first aid can be really helpful. Consider taking a course or watch videos on Youtube to be ready for any situation.
5. Stay Updated: Keep an eye on local news and weather forecasts. Being informed helps you make good decisions in a crisis. If you have a health condition, changes in the weather can drastically impact your well-being. It could be extreme heat, cold, or sudden weather shifts; staying updated can help you take the necessary precautions to protect your health.
6. Stay hydrated: Staying hydrated is super important, especially in emergencies when resources might be limited. Make sure you have enough clean water stored to last a few days, and always keep a bottle of water with you wherever you go. Staying hydrated keeps your body functioning well and helps prevent heat exhaustion and dehydration.
