Don't Eat while reading this,The Latest scoop dey choke
Hey there
How have you been? Your favorite health buddy is back with another newsletter!
This edition brings you a “not exactly juicy” summary from the X space. A lot has been happening, and let me tell you, the folks on X are built differently. They seem indifferent to “Mental Health”. If you're not strong enough, my advice is to avoid that space entirely or just be a ghost on the app, like me. Oh, did you think someone dragged me? 👀😂 No, no one dragged Tolani. Me?? I just scroll through and keep it moving.
Now, let's dive into the drama between Nollywood actress and movie producer, Toyin Abraham, and Ayo from X.
Quick backstory: Toyin was vocal about her support for Tinubu, who is now the president. Since then, the economy has... well, you know what's up, we’re both in Nigeria. Long story short, people have been dragging Toyin. This week, she decided “enough is enough” and allegedly had someone arrested. The tweet that caused this drama is a little funny. Ayo claimed Toyin used money from the past election to pay for her husband's hair transplant and... what? LMAO!😭 Why would anyone say that? Honestly, that would push anyone to the edge, but then Ayo gets arrested and things get interesting.
People started calling for Ayo's release, threatening to mass report Toyin's page and boycott her movies on Netflix. Others defended Toyin, telling Netflix it was all a lie.
Netflix to Nigeria: Do these ones need an appointment with JEAY? We need to be sure that all is well with them.
On a serious note, we cannot hope to fight against police brutality while using the police to our advantage when it suits us. It’s like “pick a struggle”. Civil matters are very different from criminal matters. The police should not be a tool of oppression for anyone. The good news is that Ayo has been released, and all is well in Nigeria. (👀)
On Friday morning, the female hostel at the Ekiti State NYSC camp allegedly collapsed, trapping people inside. This happened because the building was dilapidated and weak. But, someone saw it and still let people live in it? Last year, someone complained online about the same building, and now it’s collapsed and injured people. Fingers crossed, hoping no one loses their life.
Hear me, if you think too much about Nigeria and the many things going on, depression will most likely set in.
Now to my unsolicited piece of advice, but the main reason for this week’s newsletter: Be/learn to be nice/kind to people, even in your criticisms. Life does not revolve around you. Just because I'm saying be nice and kind to one another doesn't mean you should stay in negative situations. Never prioritize being nice over your happiness and safety, but be self-aware enough to know the difference.
Do not be the reason why someone’s mental health is in shambles or even be a tiny part of it. The disorderliness of one’s mental health is just as deadly as that of physical health. Do not be a part of it, and remove yourself from people/spaces that would let this happen.
Finally, we’ll talk more about mental health in the coming weeks, and I hope reading every line helps someone who is battling something.
A better way to go about it is by booking a one-on-one appointment with a professional at JEAY, and they'll provide you with the necessary information to help you. Simply download the TELEMEDICAL app on the Play Store, and it’s easy from there! Whether it’s a physical condition or a mental condition, JEAY is here to help you access quality and affordable healthcare from the comfort of your home, on your own terms.
Until next time,
Stay kind, stay positive.
Love,
Tolani from JEAY.❤️
